How does the planner work?
The system plans by forward-scheduling your production order operations into the resources Single Run Capacity in SAP Business One and calculating the planned work order completion dates.
The planning board will plot capacity daily and can account for queue times, overlapping operations, and capacity constraints to show where overloads exist. The board will also give a real-time MRP view of all material availability for all production order on a time-phased basis with indicators to show if the production order can be kitted on its start date and immediately.
Selecting a specific day and resource will show the footprint of the load, allowing drag & drop adjustment, or an auto schedule to remove the overload. It is also possible to group the board by project and/or Sales Order, giving a complete 360-degree view of supply from production.
Everything used is standard SAP Business One functionality. Capacity is defined against standard resources in SAP Business One utilising the working calendars and resource factors. The single-run capacity is used as the base maximum load when forward scheduling, i.e., it is the maximum load given to any operation in a day, and the duration extends as required. Usually factors like ‘Number of People’ will not be included in the single run calculation if that department predominately works on jobs individually. The total capacity of the department would multiply up by that factor.
